Denton County Appraisal District Overview
 

The Denton County Appraisal District is responsible for valuing real property and business personal property for property tax purposes. The Denton County Appraisal District does not levy property taxes. The taxing units within the appraisal district perform the tax assessment and tax collection process.

The Denton County Board of Directors is responsible for governing the appraisal district. The board appoints the chief appraiser, the taxpayer liaison officer, and the Denton County Appraisal Review Board.

The Denton County Chief Appraiser manages the appraisal district office and is responsible for valuing the taxable property within the appraisal district. The Denton County Taxpayer Liaison Officer assists taxpayers in understanding the appraisal process.

The purpose of the Appraisal Review Board is to resolve property tax disputes between taxpayers and the Denton County Appraisal District. The Appraisal Review Board is made up of private citizens and is seperate from the chief appraiser and the Denton County Appraisal District office.
